6+ Hold’em, also known as Short Deck Hold’em, is a high-action variant that modifies the standard 52-card deck by removing cards 2 through 5, resulting in a 36-card deck. This seemingly simple change has a profound impact on probabilities, hand strengths, and game flow. The increased frequency of strong hands like straights, trips, and full houses means players experience more action and less folding.
In 6+ Hold’em, some rules are slightly adjusted to accommodate the new deck composition. For example, in many versions, a flush ranks higher than a full house, and an Ace can be both high and low in straights (A-6-7-8-9 is valid). Each player receives two hole cards, and five community cards are dealt, just like in standard Hold’em.
Our platform supports multiple rule variations and custom hand rankings for Short Deck, as well as the ability to set antes, blind structures, and cap bets. This format is especially popular in Asia and among high-stakes players worldwide. It’s ideal for operators seeking fast-paced, action-heavy poker that encourages larger pots and thrilling showdowns.
