7 Card Stud Hi-Lo (often referred to as “Stud Eight or Better”) is a non-flop poker game played without community cards. Each player receives seven cards throughout the hand—three face down and four face up—to create both the best high and best low five-card poker hands. The pot is split between the best qualifying low (8 or lower, same as Omaha Hi-Lo) and the best high hand.
Unlike flop-based games, information in Stud is revealed gradually through upcards, allowing for in-depth opponent tracking and strategic adaptation. The decision-making process is more positional and results-based. Since there are no shared cards, players have to rely on memory, deduction, and careful chip management.
This format is ideal for players who excel in longer-form, strategic poker. It rewards tight-aggressive play, patience, and excellent recall of folded and exposed cards. Our Stud Hi-Lo tables offer adjustable ante structures, forced bring-ins, betting limits, and hand replay features. Including Stud Hi-Lo in your game roster enhances your appeal to old-school and mixed game veterans.
